Radionomy: Web 2.0 site

"Who": Radionomy

Radionomy, a start-up founded by four Belgian serial entrepreneurs, takes its name from the fusion of two concepts: Radio + Autonomy.

The Radionomy project is all about giving everyone the chance to create, manage and broadcast their own Internet radio station, easily and free of charge. Anyone can access the vast music and content libraries, and add their own musical creations and audio content. Radionomy broadcasts these stations free of charge and takes care of all copyright costs. Radionomy even shares the advertising revenue with the radio stations' creators, according to the size of their audience.

"Why": to create their Web 2.0 platform

IDWEAVER is putting in place a Web 2.0 site aimed at Internet and music aficionados who want to set up their own radio station and broadcast it on the Net, i.e. the “radio station creators”, at producers of content, pieces of music, or programmes who'd like to make their work available to the radio station creators and lastly, at Internet users who want to listen to these stations.

"What": advice, analysis and implementation

As a partner, IDWEAVER is involved in the design and creation of the interface for the Web 2.0 site. Having conducted a functional, graphical and ergonomic analysis, IDWEAVER is developing Radionomy's new website, which will be a fully-fledged online community (social network).

This public Web 2.0 interface is a tool that offers users the following functionality:

Radio management interface

This interface enables users to create their own radio stations. By means of a personalised mini-site (www.radionomy.com/radioName), the station creator can control the following sections:

  • News
  • Blog
  • Station schedule
  • List of fans
  • Radio Wall
  • Competition
  • Surveys

Content-sharing interface

This interface allows users to produce and manage their own content, such as programmes, pieces of music, etc.

The content producers can publish their work, thereby allowing the radio creators to schedule and broadcast them.

Through a mini-site, the content producers can also promote their products.

The mini-site offers them the same functionality as that of the station creators, with the exception that they can also consult the list of their own content scheduled for broadcast on the Radionomystations:

  • News
  • Blog
  • Station schedules
  • List of fans
  • Radio Wall
  • Competition
  • Surveys
  • List of scheduled broadcasts of their content

Public listener interface

This interface allows users both to manage the list of their favourite stations or content and to interact with the station creators and/or content producers, for example, by posting their opinion on the programming or by taking part in competitions and surveys.

>Social dimension

Listeners can browse the profiles of other listeners, discover their favourite stations, send messages and share experiences.

Content Management System (CMS)

IDWEAVER has set up a content management solution that enables Radionomy's administrators to dynamically manage the public Web 2.0 interface using our CMS tool.

eCRM (Customer Relationship Management)

Courtesy of our eCRM module, the databases of visitors and users can be managed. This Customer Relationship Management module makes it possible to manage all contacts (listeners, programmers and producers, as well as journalists, prospects, etc.), histories, groups, segments, etc., along with reporting and marketing activities.

It also allows interaction between users and the Radionomy team courtesy of its activity monitoring functionality.

Technologies specific to Web 2.0

The Radionomy website combines all the programming languages that typify Web 2.0 sites:

  • Ajax
  • Flash
  • Streaming audio
  • ...
